Ilha Comprida stretches to 45 miles of continuous beach of clean water.

On the northern tip there is the State Park Reserve of Juréia and on the southern tip, the untouched Ilha do Cardoso.
There are many mangrove areas, archaeological sites, forests, dunes and rare species of birds, Ilha Comprida is one of the last remnants of Atlantic Forest and one of the last unpolluted ecosystems along the Brazilian coast.

Part of the Estuary Lagoon Complex Iguape-Paranaguá, which is one of the largest nurseries of fish and crustaceans for the South Atlantic
Due its extraordinary environmental importance, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), included it as a biosphere reserve of the planet.

It is an Environmental Protection Area and develops structural actions to become Model City of Sustainable Tourism.
Ilha Comprida's dunes are scattered along the shore near the Mar Pequeno (Small Sea) and tours are highly recommended.
The dunes of Araçá surprises visitors with its ever changing formations, up to ten meters high and a beautiful view of the sea. They can also be found on the way to South Boqueirão over large areas. Some of them end up in small ponds.
Walking around the dunes is an unforgettable tour in nature. The typical birds are a show of its own.
